Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum capacity of the chapel and ballrooms?

For the Kay Chapel, we can seat 200. The Bellevue Ballroom accommodates up to 150 guests plus vendors, and the Viking Ballroom accommodates 125 – 250 guests plus vendors.

Could you provide a detailed list of what is included with the venue in your wedding packages?

*Menu tasting for up to 4 guests
*Complimentary cocktail reception and dinner reception space
*Ivory or white floor-length linen and napkins, dance floor, china, glassware, silverware, and votive candles
*Fruitwood Chiavari chairs
*Overnight wedding suite the night of your wedding
*Discounted valet

How early can I get into the chapel and ballroom to set up?

This will depend on whether there is another event being held the day/evening prior to your wedding. Setup time will be confirmed 1 month prior, but usually at least 3 hours. The Kay Chapel setup time usually is 1-hour minimum but can include up to the day prior.

Do you require a day-of coordinator?

Yes, we highly suggest one; it’s worth the investment! They will work closely with you, the hotel team, and your vendors weeks/days leading up to your wedding, are the main point of contact on your wedding day, set up your decor, and ensure you are on time for your photos, ceremony, and reception.

Is a rehearsal included in the cost of the Kay Chapel rental?

Yes! We schedule the rehearsal 3-6 months from the date and allow one hour for rehearsal. We suggest your officiant and/or day-of coordinator run the rehearsal and ceremony.

Taking Care of You & Your Guests

In addition to over 14,000 square feet of event space and the historic landmark Kay Chapel, you and your wedding guests can take advantage of the many distinctive amenities available at Hotel Viking.

Fun for the Entire Wedding Party

Bridal Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea was first introduced in the 1840s in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, who remedied afternoon “hunger spells” with a delightful snack of tea, bread and butter, and cake. After inviting friends to join her, her afternoon tea became a social event among the English aristocracy.

A Newport tradition like no other, Hotel Viking’s Bridal Afternoon Tea will add glamour and prestige to your wedding festivities. Perfect for a bridal shower or a wedding weekend activity, all your guests will be delighted with this classic social event!

The Groom’s Room is a comfortable salon located in the Kay Chapel. This wedding-day man cave is outfitted with comfortable seating, a large TV, and games.
