The award-winning New England Hotel Viking, located in Newport's historic hill neighborhood, is a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America . In April 2007, a $6.2 million dollar renovation and reconfiguration of the original wing built in 1926, created 66 king and queen bedded rooms and suites decorated in a style reminiscent of Newport's Gilded Age. Sumptuous fabrics, Egyptian cotton bed linens, pillow top mattresses and ornately carved headboards create a truly elegant environment. Smaller than the more modern Newport Guest Rooms, these renovated historic rooms will provide the quintessential Newport ambience. The stately Newport Guest rooms are appointed with Georgian and Queen Anne style furnishings and many feature two queen size beds.
Multi-textured, warm-hued shades of tapestry, silks, velvets and satins adorn new sumptuous furnishings and stunning drape treatments. Custom wool Axminister carpets made in England add to the elegant feel of Newport’s Gilded Age, quietly present in every room. There is also the all-important nod to contemporary amenities done the Newport way – rooms have LCD televisions, built-in cherry wardrobes; beveled glass doors leading into elegant bathrooms featuring large showers wrapped in ‘pillow’ carved marble and glass mosaic, along with relaxing rainhead showers.

Whether your canine traveling companion is named Rex, Bowser, Spot, Toto, Lassie or Tramp, Hotel Viking has just started a new program to pamper your "pup-on-vacation" as much or better than you do at home. Hotel Viking welcomes dogs on the first floor of the Newport Wing and also treats its canine guests to a bag of complimentary dog biscuits that can be replenished during their stay at the hotel's front desk. Hotel Viking's Canine Room Service available at your fingertips/paws, served daily from 7 am to 10 pm. We accept pets in the Newport wing of the hotel (maximum of two pets per room). There is a one time non-refundable cleaning fee of $75 per pet which applies each stay. Pets need to be crated if left alone in guestroom.
