Spirits & Stogies

The Top of Newport at the Hotel Viking again welcomes warm weather Wednesdays with a vibrant blend of spirits, cigars and the right atmosphere. A perfect place to unwind after work or a long day, ‘Spirits and Stogies Wednesdays’ offers superior cigars paired perfectly with high quality spirits and food bites.

‘Spirits and Stogies Wednesdays’ will be held at Top of Newport rooftop lounge. Guests will sample selected spirits along with a cigar pairing chose by our talented staff and John Brandt of The Old Firehouse Cigar Shop in Fall River, MA. Spirits featured will consist of cognac, brandy, port, single malt scotch, tequila, rum, and liqueurs. Small bites prepared will be passed to compliment each cigar and spirit. All who attend will be eligible to win the raffle item of the evening.

Event begins at 6PM.
Events will be limited to 80 guests.

For the past few years, my wife and I have had the pleasure to dining at both the "Top of Newport" restaurant (located on the roof of the Hotel Viking) and "One Bellevue" restaurant. Both locations are fantastic destinations that serve world-class cuisine with top-notch service. "Top of Newport" boasts a wonderful view of scenic Newport, Rhode Island, including a relaxing view of the nearby harbor.

The "Top of Newport" is also the location for "Spirits & Stogies" nights, held every Wednesday evening throughout the summer months. These events are always a crowd pleaser; attendees receive a three course meal, three drinks featuring the evenings selected spirit, and a cigar to pair with the meal. My wife and I love these events and make frequent visits throughout the summer. We have also had the pleasure of introducing many of our friends and family to these events, all of whom have unanimously enjoyed the delicious pairings of food, beverage, and cigar. The menu for these events change weekly and the staff is incredibly courteous and helpful. Prime example: one of our friends who came to a "Spirits & Stogie" event inquired about the gluten content of the evenings meal (for dietary reasons). The manager and chef at the "Top of Newport" contacted us, discussed the menu, and prepared a separate gluten-free menu for our friend to enjoy. This gluten-free meal, like the original meal offered at the event, was designed to specifically enhance and pair with flavors found in the night's spirit and cigar. They truly went above and beyond to make our evening enjoyable and worry free.

I cannot recommend the "Top of Newport" and "One Bellevue" enough. Both establishments offer incredible dining experiences and are staffed by caring, courteous, and dedicated staff. If you are ever in the Newport area, the "Top of Newport" and "One Bellevue" will never disappoint.

A Wonderful Evening

We began with cocktails at the roof top bar. It was energetic and our host Michael was friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious along with the very attentive and professional service. Once again our host Michael was wonderful. His knowledge of the wine list was most helpful. He was always in site making certain all went well. Our appetizer was the Tuna Tartare and was big enough to share. My husband had the poached lobster and I the striped bass. Both excellent. I would definitely return to One Bellevue.
