HOTEL VIKING HOLIDAY PHOTO CONTEST !
Newport’s Historic Hotel Viking welcomes people to take their holiday photo at the hotel. Locals and travelers alike are encouraged to snap their image in front of any or all of the hotel’s four themed trees, upload the photo to Facebook, post to the Hotel Viking fan page and tag the Hotel Viking in the photo. The photo that receives the most comments wins a brunch for four at One Bellevue. Contest runs from December 7, 2009 – January 7, 2010. A winner will be chosen on January 8, 2010.
THE HISTORIC HOTEL VIKING EXTENDS GOVERNMENT PER DIEM RATE TO INCLUDE LEISURE TRAVEL
Newport, RI (April 3, 2009) – The historic Hotel Viking has offered “Per Diem” rates as set by the General Services Administration, to federal travelers on business, for nearly a decade. Now the Newport hotel will offer this rate midweek, for government employees, military, and federal workers for leisure travel. The Per Diem rates are $120 per night, now until May 31, 2009 and $178 per night, June 1, 2009 until September 30, 2009. These midweek rates are based on availability and do not include weekends, holidays and black out dates.

Culinary Team Takes Home Top Honors at 21st Annual Newport Winter Festival
Newport, RI (February 24, 2009) – The Hotel Viking’s Chef Kevin Thiele and bartender Colleen recently won top honors at the 21st Annual Newport Winter Festival. Chef Kevin Thiele won the Annual Chili Cook Off for the 3rd year in a row. Colleen Kempenaar brings home the top honor for the Annual Hot Drink contest, the 2nd year in a row. Trophies will be featured prominently in the One Bellevue lounge, for the next year.
