Prescott Farm

Prescott Farm offers the visitor a glimpse of early New England buildings and landscape. The farm buildings and land traces its origin to the early 18th century. Doris Duke, through the Newport Restoration Foundation, purchased the 40-acre farm with the idea of preserving open space and the Overing House (1730) as well as creating a setting for rural buildings from the area, which were in imminent danger of being lost through demolition. The Overing House, original to the site, was restored and is rented, as is the Potter House (c.1790). Because these two properties are privately rented, they and their surrounding property are not available for public access. The Farm site, which is open to the public, showcases several buildings, a pond, usually home to hungry geese and ducks, and several walking trails. Prescott Farm is open to visitors May through October, Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm.
